With months to go before the highly anticipated Cali Reggae festival, Reggae Rise up in Las Vegas, we wanted to start a series highlighting the bands scheduled to perform.

Commentary:

The “Big” Three.. – I’m embarrassingly afraid to admit it but at the age of 45 I attended my VERY first concert. It was Slightly Stoopid and I didn’t get to see Rebelution play until almost 8 months after. But by that time, I was already full in on “Cali Reggae”. I would play Rebelution and Stick Figure on repeat. Rebelution was my gateway into this genre of music. It opened my aperture and have since discovered more bands, new bands, and would consider Cali Reggae my soul music. But at the end of the day – my roots are Rebelution.

The positivity in their message, the mixture of instruments, bass and drums (this is what Cali Reggae is) and vocals puts them at the top of this genre. You can’t know Cali Reggae without knowing Rebelution.

And so, I know this article is about Rebelution, but as a fan of Eric – I must mention his other band called Unified Highway.
